Custom Oil Paintings

Send us your photograph and we will send you back a masterpiece to be cherished and enjoyed for as long as you own it.

Overview

Our world-renowned custom painting services transform your photographs into a hand-made oil painting. With every brushstroke, we capture even the most minute details and nuances of a photograph. Transforming your photograph into an oil painting will add a beautiful brushtroke quality, a true canvas texture, a richer color range and depth. During the painting process, our artists also apply additional brushstrokes to correct certain imperfections of the photograph, and will often times use a special tablet and stylus to preserve or enhance its true colors, including subtle gradations.

Complete Personalization

You may select to alter your photographs and fuse them with new designs and beautiful imagery to bring them to life in stunning fashion. For example, we can composite in a new background, add, or subtract elements and paint it in virtually any style. These customized paintings are original, bold, vibrant, artistic, full of life, and always aesthetically pleasing. Imagine your wedding photograph in the style of Picasso or Andy Warhol.

Custom Painting Styles

These styles range from frisky psychedelic to minimalist cool – and they always stand out from the crowd. Each photograph that is sent to us is unique and personal, and thus it our responsibility to work hard to capture its essence and personality of the subjects. Each custom style evokes a different emotion and contains its own unique sentiment, whether through details in the lips, the eyes, or the colors. Below, you can explore the different possibilities of our custom styles and begin to imagine how your own photograph would look in that style.

Photo-to-Art Style. Photo-to-Art refers to a direct transformation of a photograph into an oil painting. Transforming your photograph into an oil painting will add a beautiful brushtroke quality, a true canvas texture, a richer color range and depth.. During the painting process, our artists also apply additional brushstrokes to correct certain imperfections of the photograph, and will often times use a special tablet and stylus to preserve or enhance its true colors, including subtle gradations.

Warhol Style. Inspired by Andy Warhol, this style is all about color and subtle texture. This style boasts a bold pop-art display that achieves its impact from hi-contrast, saturated colors, and a flat color background. Another signature element of this style is its repetition of a single subject with dramatic variation in color. This style pushes the subjects into a high-contrast while retaining its original tonal values. The background is colorized monochromatically for a heightened sense of drama and distinction.

Graphic Style. Inspired by the edgy promotional stylings of the film industry, the graphic style is a perfect contemporary portrait and is able to evoke anything from modern to classic types of graphic. A distinguishable trait of this style is that it focuses on very smooth shapes and lines, while blending detail and simplicity in a harmonious fashion. This style pays particular focus on emotion and expression of the subject by highlighting their eyes, lips, and hair through graphic-esque enhancement.

Illustration Style. Inspired by an absolute minimalist illustration style, this style is essentially cool, somewhat quirky, with just a hint of tongue in cheek. It reduces the subject’s details down to its simplest and purest form, and is coated with soothing flat colors. This pure approach is designed to express the essence of a subject – pure and untainted.

Liechtenstein Style. Inspired by Roy Liechtenstein, this style is an echo of many classic comic books, which focuses on balancing form, color, and line. This style is distinguished by its limited color-palate and its usage of patterns of halftone dots to convey surface, tone, shading, and form. Often, the comic book aspect of this style is further heightened by the use of onomatopoeic lettering and boxed captions.

Custom Artist Style. This unique customization approach requires tremendous technical, creative, and artistic skills. This style portrays the essential core elements of a photograph subsumed by the styles and relationships they maintain with specific famous artists. The results contain the creative signatures of both the photograph and the works of the famous artist.

How It Works

Simply provide us with the photograph(s) from which you want the painting to be based upon. Then select whether to integrate a custom painting style or keep it standard. Lastly, specify a size for your painting and any other additional instructions, and then we'll produce the painting to your specifications.

  1. Select Style. You may select to integrate a custom painting style or keep it standard. We offer examples of each custom style so that you can explore the different possibilities and begin to imagine how your own photograph would look in that style.
  2. Select Number of Panels. You may select the number of panels you wish to have for your painting. Later, you may specify instructions for the look of each panel, whether to keep the look for each panel the same or to customize a unique look for each one.
  3. Select Size. You may select the size of your painting.
  4. Select Canvas Orientation. You may select from three canvas orientations:
  5. . Rolled Canvas (Non-Stretched). In this canvas orientation, the painting is rolled and sleeved in a secured mailing tube. This orientation is ideal if you intend to frame or customize the canvas yourself. We leave approximately 2" of workable empty spaces on all four sides to accommodate future modifications. The advantage of this orientation is more flexibility in print sizing, whereas the stretched orientation is limited by dimension of stretcher bars.
  6. Basic Stretched Canvas (Stretched). In this canvas orientation, the canvas is frame-ready, and sized to fit into any frame or molding. The image of the painting is displayed only on the front side of the canvas. The canvas is stretched via a heavy-duty stretcher frame that is secured to its back using staples (the size of the frame is generally 1.25" thick). The staples are placed on the back of the canvas so they are not visible from the front.
  7. Gallery Wrapped Canvas (Stretched) - In this canvas orientation, you may select for the image to extend past the front and bleed onto the four sides of the canvas or have it mirrored. The canvas is stretched via a heavy-duty stretcher frame that is secured to its back using staples (the size of the frame is generally 1.25" thick). The staples are placed on the back of the canvas so they are not visible from the front. This orientation yields the latest contemporary presentation without a frame, so it is ready to be hung once it arrives.
  8. Upload Photograph(s). You may upload the photograph(s) you would like us to turn into a painting. You may send us more than one photograph if you wish to base the painting off more than one photograph. Later, you will be given the opportunity to describe in detail what you would like us to do with each photograph, such as combining, adding, or subtracting certain elements.
  9. Add Additional Instructions. You may add special instructions. For example, if you’ve selected a painting style that’s strongly colored, please let us know what dominant color you’d like. Similarly, if you selected more than one panel for your painting, you may specify whether you would like to keep the look for each panel the same or have a unique look for each one.
  10. Approval and Payment. Before we start painting, one of our specialists will contact you via phone to make sure we understand every detail of your request. We will then provide you with a quote along with a digital proof of the painting. This digital proof will reflect your specifications to ensure that you are happy with the design before we begin painting.
  11. Painting Commences.
  12. Final Approval. Once your painting is finished, we will email you a high-resolution photograph of your painting for your final approval. During this stage, you may request additional adjustments. Once the painting meets your final approval, it will be promptly shipped to you.
